Fair Grove, MO – October 17, 2024 – After an outstanding career spanning 25 years with the Fair Grove R-X School District, Superintendent Mr. Mike Bell has announced his intent to retire after the 2024-2025 school year. In a heartfelt letter to the Board of Education, Mr. Bell reflected on his tenure and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the district.
"Serving as the Superintendent of Schools for the past decade has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am deeply thankful to the Board of Education for the trust and support you have shown me throughout this journey," Bell stated. Mr. Bell emphasized the importance of the relationships he’s formed with colleagues and community members, noting that their support played a significant role in his commitment to the district.
Throughout his time at Fair Grove, Mr. Bell has led numerous successful initiatives, including strengthening the district’s financial position and significant improvements in teacher recruitment and retention. Under his leadership, the district implemented substantial salary increases and adopted a 4-Day School Week in 2019, positioning the district among the top 10% in Southwest Missouri for teacher retention.
As Mr. Bell approaches his 25th year with the district, 10th as Superintendent, he shares his excitement for the future while reflecting on his rewarding journey. "It’s been an amazing ride, and I look forward to finishing this final year with the same passion and commitment that I’ve always brought to this role," he wrote.
School Board President Cheryl Kepes stated, “The Fair Grove Board of Education is grateful to Superintendent Mike Bell for his decades of service to the Fair Grove School District. Due to his many contributions and leadership, the district is poised for success for many years to come.”
The Board of Education has accepted Mr. Bell’s letter of retirement and a search for his replacement will begin immediately.
