FGS Closed Remainder of Year

Fair Grove Families,

This afternoon, Governor Parson ordered public schools in Missouri to remain closed through the end of the scheduled school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this is not the news we wanted to hear, we realize this decision is necessary given the magnitude of the situation.

This order means our school buildings will remain closed, however it does not mean learning engagement and support will end.  We want to assure our Fair Grove families that we will continue to be here for them.

  • Educational resources will continue to be updated on the school website under teacher pages through May 22.  This is the previously approved last day of school for the 2019-2020 school year. Please contact your building principal if you do not have access to the internet and need resource packets prepared for your student.

  • FGS will continue to provide qualifying students weekly breakfast and lunch items, every Tuesday evening 6-7 PM through May 19th.  We ask each family to sign up weekly in order for the food service staff to better serve our students.

There are many unanswered questions that remain, including how to address graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020.  We will make an announcement about graduation, second semester grades, the possibility of summer school classes, locker item distribution, and other year-end decisions within the next week.

As always, we encourage you to reach out to your building principal or teachers if you have questions or need additional assistance.

We thank you for your continued support and partnership as we navigate the challenges of this unprecedented situation.  I have no doubt we will get through this difficult time stronger than ever!

Sincerely,

Mike Bell

Superintendent of Schools
